Our trustee, Dr. Thinn Thinn Hlaing and her colleagues from Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provided several training sessions over five days period on how to collect arterial gas samples, how to use and maintain a blood gas analyser and how to interpret blood gas results in major hospitals in Yangon. A total of 113 staffs (doctors and nurses)in Yangon General Hospital, New Yangon General Hospital, Yangon Children Hospital and North Okkalapa hospital were trained. This work was funded mainly by Addenbrooke's Abroad, a branch of Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust and THET (Tropical Health & Education Trust). Brighter Future Foundation has subsidised oversea trainers with their subsistence costs to ensure that their stay was as pleasant and enjoyable as possilbe while offering training. Brighter Future Foundation would like to thank Mr. G Hardwick and Mrs. S Hardwick for giving up their time and volunteering training in Yangon with Dr. Thinn Thinn Hlaing and also for the continued support for the blood gas analyser at Intensive Care Unit, New Yangon General Hospital.
